Police arrest 163 in Sindh over lockdown violation

KARACHI: Police on Monday said that total 163 persons were arrested across Sindh over violation of the lockdown measures implemented by the provincial government to contain the growing cases of coronavirus (Covid-19).

They were held over charges of violations of Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code and hoarding of masks, sanitizers and gloves etc.

Giving a breakdown of the arrests, the police sources said that 58 were detained in Karachi, including 41 in East zone, 12 in West zone and five in South zone of the metropolis where total 30 FIRs were registered.

Meanwhile, 38 persons were detained in Hyderabad, three in Mirpurkhas, six in Shaheed Benazirabad, 31 in Sukkur and 27 in Larkana range where 69 FIRs were registered.
