Urs of Baba Bulleh Shah concludes

KASUR, Aug 29: The three-day 248th annual urs of Punjabi mystic poet Baba Bulleh Shah concluded here on Monday. A large number of disciples of the sufi saint across the country participated in urs celebrations.

Scholars and intellectuals highlighted the personality, teachings, life and poetry of the saint at the conference arranged by the Majlis Bulleh Shah. Speakers, including Shafqat Tanvir Mirza, Prof Afzal Tauseef, Mudassar Iqbal, Asmatullah Zahid, Qazi Javed, Haroon Gul, Khalid Arman, Muhammad Younis and Prof Hasan Malik, paid glowing tributes to the sufi saint.

Bulleh Shah awards were also conferred on Mudassar Iqbal, Prof Afzal Tauseef, Shafqat Husain, Tanvir Zaman, Muhammad Jehangir and Ghulam Muhammad Chand for their meritorious service for literature, art and music.

The Auqaf Department had also arranged ‘mehfil-i-qirat’, naat, ‘mehfil-i- samaa’ in which prominent ‘naatkhwans’, qaris and qawals from all over the country participated.—APP
