HYDERABAD, Aug 28: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal MNA Asadullah Bhutto has condemned registration of what he called a false case of desecration of national flag against Dr Qadir Magsi, chairman of the Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party.

A delegation of the Jamaat-i-Islami

comprising Maulana Bhutto, Maulana Waheed Qureshi and Shaikh Shaukat Ali met Dr Magsi here on Sunday and demanded that the case against Dr Magsi and his companions should immediately be withdrawn.

They said it was simply unbelievable that an SHO should insult the national flag himself just to involve a nationalist leader in a concocted case of desecration of flag and firing.

They called upon the government, judiciary and senior officials to take notice of such an abominable act and award the SHO an exemplary punishment.

Dr Magsi told the Jamaat leaders that he was not afraid of cases and jails as he had spent the entire life fighting against repression.

He said not a single case of firing was reported in UC-3 Qasimabad and hundreds of people were witnessed to this fact.

He said the entire false story was authored by the SHO.

He demanded that higher authorities should probe into the shameful act who himself desecrated the national flag and registered a false case against him and his companions.

A delegation of the Pakistan People’s Party comprising MPA Zahid Bhurgari, Moula Bux Chandio and Fateh Ali Talpur also called on Dr Magsi and expressed disgust over registration of a false case against him.

They condemned murder of innocent people during the local body elections and held the government responsible for bloody election day.

ALLEGATIONS: Nawab Mumtaz Hussain Laghari, nazim candidate of the Awam Dost Panel from UC Tajpur-III, Matiari district, has appealed to the president and prime minister to declare the local body elections null and void.

He alleged that massive rigging had taken place in the election of the UC.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club on Sunday, he said MPA Jalal Shah Jamote and Mohammad Ali Shah Jamote along with police visited every polling station of Tajpur, leaving behind armed men at all polling stations.

He said in the polling station of Deh Keti, Jalal Shah Jamote and Mohammad Ali Shah Jamote pressurized the people to vote for them.

He said women voters were made special target.

He said the armed men of the Jamotes unleashed terror at polling stations and at some polling stations they stamped ballot papers.

Mr Laghari claimed he approached Rangers and the army to intervene but they took no action.
