ISLAMABAD, Aug 26: Chairman National Highways Authority Farrukh Javed said on Friday that the NHA was expediting efforts to integrate the main highways network in minimum time under the directive of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

Speaking in a PTV programme he said the NHA would fine-tune its plan and submit a comprehensive report to the prime minister within a week for final approval. He said the prime minister’s advice was closely related to a commercial corridor concept of developing an integrated highways network throughout the country.

Geographically, he said, the Indus River divides the country into the east and the west corridors. These corridors are supported by the Indus Highway and the Grand Trunk Road. The third link to that network is motorway, he added.—APP
