KARACHI: Police on Monday conducted actions in different parts of the city and detained five principals over charges of opening schools as the provincial government has already announced closure of educational institutes across the province till May 30 to prevent spread of coronavirus, said a senior police officer.
All the held persons were booked under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Quaidabad police arrested the principal of a private school in Sherpao Colony and registered a case against him.
According to contents of the FIR, when the police party asked him about opening of the school, the principal did not furnish any satisfactory reply, thus his act of opening the school was in violation of the ban imposed by the provincial home department.
Separately, Sukkan police arrested a principal of a private school in Bhains Colony. The same police station also apprehended another principal in Labour Square of Landhi.
Two more principals were arrested in Quaidabad and Shah Latif Town over identical charges of opening their schools in violation of the government order.
