MARDAN: The secretary Zakat and Ushr Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has terminated Mardan district Zakat committee chairman Tariq Mehmood Aryani, sources said here on Sunday.

They said a notification in that regard was issued a few days ago.

Mr Aryani from the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf was appointed Zakat body’s chairman two months ago on the recommendations of former senior provincial minister Mohammad Atif Khan.

He also remained personal secretary to Atif Khan for five years in the last PTI government in the province.

When contacted, Tariq Aryani told Dawn that he was being victimised for supporting the former minister. He alleged that PTI lawmakers Abdus Salam Afridi and Ameer Farzand Khan were behind his termination.
