NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Members of a joint investigation team tasked with probing the murder of journalist Aziz Memon visited Mehrabpur, late Memon’s native town, and examined the crime scene and evidence on Wednesday.

The team led by Karachi additional inspector general Ghulam Nabi Memon with members SSPs of Naushahro Feroze and Shaheed Benazirabad Dr Farooq Ali and Tanveer Hussain Tunio, officials of an intelligence agency, doctors and a lab examiner held a meeting at SSP office and then visited the crime scene from where the journalist’s body was recovered.

Ghulam Nabi Memon later told journalists that it would be premature to conclude that police could not investigate the case properly and failed to collect vital evidence under any mala fide intentions.

He said the JIT would probe the case from all aspects. Statements of heirs including his wife, brother and son had already been recorded. They would also interview the arrested accused and look into the previous investigation as well to reach actual culprits, he said.

He said that they might go for a fresh post-mortem of the deceased with the family’s consent and the court’s permission.
