GILGIT: The martyred Army Colonel Mujeebur Rehman was laid to rest with full military honour in his native Bunji village in Gilgit on Tuesday.

Col Mujeeb embraced martyrdom during an operation against terrorists in Tank area on Monday.

The funeral prayers were held at the Army Helipad here. Commander FCNA Ehsan Mehmood Khan led the prayers.

GBChief Minister Hafeezur Rehman, ministers, members of regional assembly, civil and military officials and relatives of the martyred officer attended the funeral.

After the funeral prayers, the coffin of the martyred colonel was taken to Bunji village in an army helicopter.

Meanwhile, funeral prayers of the 10 persons killed in a road accident in Rondu on Monday were held in Skardu on Wednesday.

A rescue operation is underway to recover the bodies of the remaining 16 passengers from the Indus River. A Skardu-bound passenger coaster plunged into the river near Roundu.
