LAHORE, Jan 16: The seven-to-one chance dark bay gelding, Senna won feature event of the mid-week Lahore Gymkhana races competed over six furlongs at the Racecourse on Wednesday.

Steered by riding boy Mujahid Ali II, the gelding Senna overtook the front-runners, the fancied Asif Love and Mon Soon and passed the winning post ahead of both.

Senna beat the other long-shot Mon Soon by four lengths, registering a facile victory. Asif Love finished third, half-a- length further back while the chestnut gelding Aao Payar Se completed the frame, another five lengths behind.

In all, 14 ran for this second race of the-day. The winner clocked one minute 19 1/5 seconds.

The chestnut colt Ding Dong, under the riding boy Qamar Zaman, ran very courageously to claim fourth event to his liking. He defeated the fancied bay filly Deep River by four lengths. Another chestnut colt Great Sergeant finished third, a distance behind while Subzero completed the board, one-and-a-half lengths further back.

The fancied bay colt In Command was extremely lucky to pip the bay mare Mohni Road at the finishing line and win the supporting event of the day. While negotiating the final turn home, In Command drifted towards the outside and lost some ground. However, the colt managed to regain the lead and then went on to win this fifth race of the day by a short margin.

In Command was steered by the riding boy Zulfiqar Hussain, who completed the double by flawlessly riding home Golden Wings in the sixth race. This chestnut colt Golden Wings defeated the bay gelding Fiftysix Fiftysix by five lengths. Trainer Mohammad Aslam saddled two winners to excel among the trainers.

Three favourites obliged punters in a card of six events which were all contested over the sprinting distance of six furlongs.
