RAWALPINDI: The strong spell of rain that continued for four days ended on Sunday afternoon. However, the meteorological department predicted another spell of rain from Wednesday.

Sunday began with heavy rains but the sun made its appearance at about 9am. Clouds reappeared at 10am but in the afternoon the weather became clear.

The meteorological department recorded 11 millimetres (mm) of rain at Zero Point, 17mm at Saidpur, 11mm at Islamabad International Airport, eight mm at Golra, seven mm at Bokra and 10mm at Shamsabad, Chaklala.

The temperature rose from 10°C to 13°C on Sunday afternoon. It is expected to increase on Monday and Tuesday.

Met Office spokesman Rashid Bilal said there was a forecast of clear weather for two days followed by another strong wet spell from Wednesday that was likely to continue for three days.

He said the temperature in the twin cities would also rise from Monday (today) and there will be chances of clouds on Monday and Tuesday.

He said the intensity of the new spell of rain would be the same but its duration will be of two to three days.

He said in March and April rains occurred in upper parts of the country. Snowfall in Murree and other upper areas is also normal as the rain system arrived from the northern areas.
