QUETTA: Over half a dozen people, including the Tehsildar of Chaman and Risaldar Major of Balochistan Levies, were injured in a motorcycle bomb blast in the border town of Chaman on Saturday.

It was a remote-controlled targeted attack, spokesperson for the Balochistan government Liaquat Shahwani said, adding that the target was Risaldar Major of Balochistan Levies.

Official sources said the explosives-laden motorcycle was parked in front of the Levies Thana in Chaman and it went off when the vehicle of Levies Risaldar Major Nasibullah Achakzai and Tehsildar Chaman Abdul Razzaq Tareen reached Taj Road.

“Eight persons including Tehsildar and Risaldar Major got injured,” assistant commissioner of Chaman district confirmed to the media.

Soon after the blast security, forces rushed to the site and cordoned off the area while rescue teams shifted the injured to the district hospital.

Hospital sources said the Tehsildar, Risaldar Major and other injured were out of danger. No one claimed responsibility for the blast.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan condemned the blast and directed the authorities concerned to submit a report to him, according to the government spokesperson.
