KARACHI, Aug 25: The Executive Committee of South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) will finalize the venue for SAF Football Championship in their meeting on Sept 19, Secretary General, SAFF Sirajul Islam Bachhu, said on Thursday.

“We have visited the proposed venue of SAF championship at Peoples Stadium twice during the past two days and found the progress of the work satisfactory,” he said when approached for comments.

He said meeting of SAFF Executive Committee will be held either in Singapore or Bangkok.

He said the local organizers have upgraded the stadium where the event is expected to be held from Dec 8 to 18.

Sirajul Islam said during his stay in the city he met the officials of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and Sindh Football Association (SFA), who informed him about progress of work and face lifting of the stadium and improving floodlight system.

Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka and host Pakistan would be taking part in the 11-day competition.
