KARACHI: Seven horses will battle it out for honours in the Spring Cup when it takes place in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Thursday.

The meeting has been brought forward by three days to avoid clash with the Pakistan Derby which is slated to take place at Lahore on Sunday (March eight).

The Spring Cup which is also days feature event, combined scale order II and III, will be contested over four-and-a-half furlongs. It is the fourth race of a five-race card that has been drawn for the day.

The fifth race which is the supporting event, scale order IV and V has nine acceptors and will also run over the similar distance of four-and-a-half furlongs.

Meanwhile, a trio of horses – Chooto and Chota Raja, both unknown pedigree animals and thoroughbred Spirit – will make their debut at the course on Thursday. All the three are registered at the KRC.

A good number of 44 horses will vie for honours in the races barring last-minute withdrawal (s).

The first race starts at 3pm.

Win: Darshan.

Place: No Try and Meri Chahat.
