RAWALPINDI, Jan 16: The All Pakistan Alliance of Kutcha Abadis has expressed frustration over the failure of the concerned government agencies to implement the national policy on Kutcha Abadis.

The alliance on Tuesday held meetings in Rawalpindi, Quetta, Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi to mark the completion of one year since announcement of the policy on January 15, 2001.

The meeting in Rawalpindi was held at the central office of the alliance in Dhok Hassu and attended by the representatives of the Kutcha Abadis of Essa Nagri (Sector I-9/1), Gracy Line (Pindi Cantt), Carriage Factory Colony (Dhok Hassu) and Muslim Colony (Bari Imam).

The alliance members were concerned about the refusal of Pakistan Railways’ administration to meet them and address their outstanding problems.

The participants of the meeting also voiced concern over the unavailability of basic facilities in many Kutcha Abadis. Even the existence of many of these Abadis is not being officially acknowledged, they added.
