As 1970 was not a leap year, the following excerpt is from the Feb 28, 1970, edition of the newspaper.

CHITTAGONG: Police made 17 arrests after rival groups clashed on the occasion of a PDP [Pakistan Democratic Party] sponsored public meeting here this afternoon [Feb 27]. The meeting, addressed by the PDP chief Mr Nurul Amin and other PDP leaders, however, went on its course.

Two arrests were made from the venue of the meeting when a section of audience tried to create disturbances in the meeting during the speech of Mr Nurul Amin. Fifteen more arrests were made when the Hotel Mishka, where the PDP leaders are staying, was attacked later.

Our correspondent reports: The miscreants surrounded the hotel. ... The demonstrators were chanting slogans against Nurul Amin and the PDP. They also shouted pro-Awami League slogans. A section of the procession marched towards the office of Pakistan Democratic Party which is situated near the offices of daily “Bunyad” (Chittagong) and daily “Sangram”(Dacca). The offices of “Bunyad” and “Sangram” also were attacked.
