ISLAMABAD, Jan 16: The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notices to the chairman of Wapda and deputy attorney general for February 2, on an appeal by a demoted officer of Islamabad electric supply company(Iesco).

The bench comprised Justice Shaikh Riaz Ahmed, Justice Javed Iqbal and Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi.

Shaikh Riazul Haq advocate who appeared on behalf of Muhammad Iqbal, the executive engineer (XEN), submitted that he had been awarded major penalty of downgrade by the Iesco chairman on the allegations of giving lower bill to Kohinoor Textile Mills, Rawalpindi.

He submitted that in Federal Services Tribunal, the plea that Iesco chairman could not take action against Muhammad Iqbal because he was not an employee of Iesco but Wapda, had been turned down by the FST. He raised the same point before the apex court which admitted the appeal and issued notice to DAG and Wapda chairman.—APP
