LAHORE: All-rounder Amad Butt, who took four wickets to guide Islamabad United to their first win in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) as they outplayed Multan Sultans by eight wickets in Lahore on Saturday, says the credit of the win goes to the entire team which he said played like a unit.

In the post-match presser, the 24-year-old Amad who was very expensive in the first match against Quetta Gladiators, costing his team 50 runs for one wicket but excelled against Sultans, said no individual performance could bring victory and it was team effort which earned United a victory after losing the opener to Quetta.

“In the first match, I could not perform but I thank the team management, which had trust in me to include me in the playing XI for our second match against Sultans,” Amad stated.

He said head coach Misbah-ul-Haq was doing a great job in making Islamabad United players mentally strong, and in improving their technique.

Meanwhile, Multan Sultans’ wicket-keeper Zeeshan Ashraf, who scored a half-century against United, in his presser said he needed a good innings after getting run out in the first match against Lahore Qalandars.

Zeeshan said the early dismissals of key batsmen Rossouw and Moeen Ali created hurdles in the way of Sultans in setting a big total.

“The pitch had become more friendly for batsmen in the second innings, which helped Islamabad United easily get the target,” Zeeshan said at the presser.
