TANK: Two militants, including a senior commander of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, Sajna group, were killed in an intelligence-based operation in Tank district here on Friday, officials said.

They told Dawn that the incident took place in the Raghzai Manjhi area on the outskirts of the district headquarters. They said it was joint operation of police and security forces.

They said the militants were wanted in several cases of attacks on security forces and bomb blasts.

The officials said that the security forces moved in after a tip-off about the militants’ presence in the area.

The dead were identified as Anas Munir and Bakhtullah, both belonging to Sajna group of outlawed TTP.

The officials said that Munir was a key commander of the Sajna outfit and was involved in several suicide attacks on security forces.
