PESHAWAR, Aug 23: The naib nazim-elect of Nothia Qadeem and seven others were accused of robbing a resident of the same locality. The victim also accused the West-Cantt Police of not registering an FIR against the culprits who, he said, influential people.

Speaking at a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, victim Nizamud Din claimed that in the morning on Saturday, eight armed persons, including Naib Nazim-elect of Nothia Qadeem Union Council came to his house and made all the inmates hostage on gunpoint.

They demanded keys of the almirah and suitcases where gold ornaments and money were kept. On his refusal, the accused hit him with an iron tool and injured him badly, Nizamud Din added.

He said the accused locked him and his other male members of the family in a room and kept women hostage on gunpoint in the verandah of the house.

They broke open the almirah and suitcases and took away Rs1.1 million cash, 12 tolas of gold ornaments, a pistol and other expensive household items and escaped.
