UPPER DIR: Eight persons were injured when rival groups clashed over a land dispute in Surbat area of Upper Dir on Saturday.

Police said the groups quarrelled over planting of trees on Friday, and then started attacking each other with axes and sticks. As a result, eight persons from both the sides were injured.

Locals said that a vehicle carrying people to the site to mediate between the two families was also badly damaged by the attackers. The injured were shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Upper Dir.

They were identified as Chan Khan, Siyasat Rahman, Tahir Mohammad, Shah Faisal, Gul Mohammad, Shahid, Bashir, and others. Medical superintendent, Dr Imtiaz Ahmad, said condition of all the injured was out of danger. Police registered separate cases and started further investigations.
