Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police department on Thursday signed an agreement with Concept Schools System in order to provide free education to children of martyred policemen.

Under the contract, half of the school expenses of children of serving policemen will also be waived off, according to Mardan police.

District Police Officer (DPO) Sajjad Khan and school principal Amad Akbar signed the contract at an event attended by students, teachers and Deputy Superintendent of Police Sheikh Maltoon Muhammad Tayyeb Jan.

DPO Khan hailed the agreement, saying that the provisions made in the contract would encourage policemen. He further said that the KP police had "rendered innumerable sacrifices" while fighting against terrorism and it was the "joint responsibility of society to serve the heirs of the martyrs".

“We have set up a police hospital, a vocational training centre and other facilities for the families of the police martyrs because it is our responsibility to fulfil their needs,” he said.
