PESHAWAR, Aug 22: The political administration of Khyber Agency has intensified efforts to arrest a businessman from the remote Tera valley, who is a key suspect in the murder of his three brothers-in-law and kidnapping of five other persons of the same family.

The clue to killing of Abbas Khan, Ziarat Khan and Musafar Khan, the residents of Momin Town on Dora Road in the city has been resolved, police investigators told Dawn here on Monday.

The three brothers were killed and their bodies were thrown in the tribal region of Khyber Agency about two weeks ago.

The bodies of Abbas Khan and Ziarat Khan were found near the Pakistan-Afghan border in Terah valley and the body of their brother Musafar Khan was thrown near Spera Dam in Bara tehsil of the same tribal agency.

The disappearance of Toti Shah, a businessman and owner of Grace hotels in Peshawar and Swat, his wife Zareena and her three children Sawera, Sadaf and Sohail and his father-in-law Jan Dad Khan remained a mystry for over two weeks.

Eyewitnesses told police that Toti Shah was seen in Terah valley with his wife, three children and father-in-law soon after their disappearance from Peshawar, official sources said.

Police officials said that Toti Shah, after killing his three brothers-in-law, had also taken away his wife Zareena, her three children from her previous husband Zahoor, namely Sawera (7), Sadaf (5) and Sohail (3) and his father-in-law Jan Dad Khan to Terah valley.

They also indicated that Toti Shah might have killed all the five and thrown their bodies inside Afghanistan in a bid to keep the investigators in dark.

The city police on a an information about Toti Shah, who was seen in Terah valley, had asked the political administration to help resolve the issue, sources said.

Police officials and political administration have termed the killing a revenge.

In December 2000, Haji Wadaan, uncle of Toti Shah, was murdered on Dora Road and after two years Wadaan’s son Hussain Jan was also killed in the same locality.

Toti Shah later came to know that the family of Jan Dad Khan was involved in killing of Wadaan and his son Hussain, and three sons Jan Dad had got money from their rivals for the crime, the sources said.

Toti Shah took revenge after marrying a divorced woman Zareena, the mother of three children.

He married Zareena about a year ago after paying Rs300,000 to her former husband Zahoor, who divorced her. The three missing kids of Zareena were born from Zahoor, official sources said.

According to police, Toti Shah paid an additional amount of Rs150,000 to Zahoor, a resident of Ziyam village in Charsadda district, for the possession of three children from Zareena.
