HYDERABAD: Office-bearers of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) Hyderabad region have announced that teachers would boycott examination duties today (Wednesday) due to non-payment of dues of the last year.

They said that part one examinations of BA, MA, BCom and BSc which were due to be held from Feb 12 to Feb 23 in all the affiliated colleges of the University of Sindh would be boycotted.

SPLA president Prof Anwer Kandhro, vice president Prof Attaullah Jamali, senior member Prof Rukhsana Mughal and others jointly said this at a press conference held at the local press club on Tuesday.

They said that over 350 teachers who performed examination duties in Jan 2019 were not yet paid remunerations of around Rs6 million to Rs7m by the varsity, though many meetings were held with the varsity’s administration which did not seem serious.

Around 80,000 regular and private college students were appearing in the examinations and 55 examination centres were set up in Hyderabad, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Jamshoro, Matiari, Tharparkar, Tando Allahyar, Tando Mohammad Khan and other cities and towns.

Sindh University spokesperson said that the examinations would be held as per schedule and no hindrance would be tolerated in the processes.
