PESHAWAR: The performances of students enthralled audience during a private school’s ‘open day’ function here.

The colourfully-clad children performed different roles, including those of famous characters of children stories and cartoons.

The event was open to all, while besides elders, students of different schools also turned up to enjoy several activities full of entertainment and fun. The campus wore a festive look for being decorated with colourful balloons and buntings.

A classroom, which was turned into a haunted house, was a major attraction for children. The dimly-lit room had several scary items, including models of skeletons and different species, especially snakes.

A student remarked that he was terrified inside the place as it was dark and had scary sounds and items.

Another item of amusement was the performance of a local magician, who displayed several tricks.

Several food stalls were also put up serving both traditional and fast foods.

The students performed different tasks by taking the stage turn by turn receiving appreciation from the audience in the form of rounds of applauses.

In some presentations, the costumes and performance of little performers added colour to the celebration. The teachers helped students choose costumes for their characters.

The portrayal of different stories and cartoon characters by students was another major attraction. The children depicted themselves as Harry Potter, Snow White, Elsa and Anna and Red Riding Hood.

On one of the stalls, students through different paintings and costumes depicted four seasons. They also explained different seasons through a sound system and responded to questions of visitors.

“Both curricular and co-curricular activities are important for social and academic growth of students. Due to the same reason, we try our best to provide students with a lot of interesting and important experiences outside the traditional classroom,” said Saba Tahir, headmistress of the City Schools, Hayatabad, Junior Section.
