ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) is planning to ban schoolteachers at Islamabad public schools from running private institutions.

Sources told this agency that the directorate has already completed its homework in this regard. They said schoolteachers would not be allowed to run tuition centres so they would focus solely on their respective schools and colleges.

They said action would be taken against teachers who are not performing well.

A policy has been drafted under which professional and hardworking teachers from private sector schools would brought to public sector schools to improve the standard of government education institutions and improve the quality of education.

They said the attendance of teaching and non-teaching staff would be ensured and action would be taken against violators.

They said the quality of education at government schools and colleges would be ensured in order to restore public trust in these institutions.

The sources said that around 8,000 out of 14,000 files have been uploaded online under the FDE’s e-filing initiative. The directorate has also decided to start evening secondary level classes at all primary schools in the capital’s rural areas. These classes will begin in the next session, as basic work in this regard has been completed, they said.

They said that teachers will be bound to teach evening classes and will be given honorariums in this regard.

New educational institutions are also being established in the capital to cater to the shortage of schools.
