KARACHI: Only a week after a campaign was launched by Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) against Bahria Town, the real estate giant on Friday assured the party of resolving the issues raised by it.
On Bahria Town’s assurance, the JI deferred its next protest from Feb 9 to 20.
Bahria Town chairman Malik Riaz visited the party headquarters, Idara Noor-i-Haq, and held a meeting with its Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rahman and other senior leaders.
The two sides, a Jamaat statement said, agreed to set up a committee comprising three members from each side for resolution of all issues.
“The meeting decided in principle that forced possession of plots and houses would no more be valid and in next four years as alternative, affected allottees have choice to continue their commitment or to be reimbursed their money,” said the statement.
“In addition, Bahria Group would provide plots to allottees in different development schemes within a period of six to 12 months.”
The JI claimed that the 35 per cent development charges would also be considered invalid, adding that a committee would find some other mechanism to decide about the matter.
