QUETTA: Two suspected terrorists were killed in a gunbattle with personnel of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in the Surkhab area of Pishin district on Monday night.

A CTD spokesman said that upon receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists, they conducted the operation near an Afghan refugee camp in Surkhab.

He said a CTD official received injuries in the exchange of fire. After the gunbattle ended, the CTD personnel searched the compound where the terrorists were hiding and recovered bodies and weapons.

He said the terrorists had not been identified yet, but it was confirmed that they belonged to a banned organisation.

Last week, two suspected terrorists were killed during an operation conducted by CTD personnel in Nawan Killinan, a locality on the outskirts of Quetta.

They were said to be mastermind of the Ghousabad Mosque suicide attack that killed 14 people.
