BANGALORE: Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan, General Secretary, All-India Muslim League in the course of his presidential speech at the Bangalore-Coorg Muslim League Conference observed: “Let no Muslim imagine from now onwards that India is not his country. India is our country. We are as much entitled to it as anybody and we have greater claims on India as we have ruled over it for centuries. Therefore, it is the duty of everyone of us to stand for its independence. The need for improving the economic condition of the Muslim masses was emphasised by Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan, General Secretary of the All-India Muslim League, presiding over the two-day session of the Bangalore-Coorg Provincial Muslim League Conference last night [Jan 21].

Speaking in Urdu, the Nawabzada said: A planning committee had been constituted for the purpose whose duty would be to prepare an industrial plan to popularize those industries which would be beneficial to the Muslims. A questionnaire about cottage industries had been circulated among the various provincial Muslim Leagues and when all the relevant materials are available the Committee of Action proposed to prepare a suitable scheme… The Nawabzada made an earnest appeal to the Muslims to organise themselves…
