MINGORA: The police on Saturday arrested three transgender persons after a group of them attacked the Mingora police station with stones.

According to the police, a transgender individual, Niamat, submitted an application in Mingora police station on Jan 20 against two persons, Sajid and Hussain, for fighting with him.

“Following the application the police arrested the two and presented them to court, which released them on bail. This infuriated Niamat, who along with 20 other transgender persons, came to the police station and threw stones it,” said DPO Syed Ashfaq Anwar, adding the police registered FIR against 20 transgender persons, and arrested three of them.

Alam, a transgender person, said they came to the police station to protest the release of the two accused, who beat up one of their community members, and also opened fired on him.
