QUETTA: Two young brothers and their sister died when a pressure cooker exploded in their house in Pishin district on Saturday.

Police said that a powerful explosion took place in the Surkhab Afghan refugee camp area of Pishin district when members of the ill-fated family were sleeping.

“Three children, including two brothers and their sister, were killed on the spot after receiving serious injuries,” police officer Rozi Khan Bareach said.

Two other children also received injuries in the incident, he added.

The deceased were identified as Janan, 13, Attaur Rehman, 8, and Bibi Rahmania, 7.

The police officer said that the incident took place as the victims’ mother went to sleep without switching off the oven leaving the pressure cooker on it.
