KARACHI: The historic city of Karachi will be made into a vibrant sports city where regular sporting events and healthy activities will be held in large number and all the departments will be working towards achieving this goal while many playgrounds in the metropolis will be upgraded and fully utilised in this regards.

This was stated by Deputy Commissioner South Irshad Ali Sodhar in a meeting here on Wednesday with leading sports organisers and representatives of various sports federations.

“There is tremendous talents available in Karachi for all the sports and each district should groom that talent to provide sportspersons of national and international level who can bring laurels for the country,” the DC said. “We will surely give all out support in this regard.”

He also thanked everyone present in the meeting for making the City Marathon held on Jan 12 a bumper success.

The meeting was attended by Asghar Baloch of Sindh Boxing Association, PTF’s Khalid Rehmani, senior sports coordinator South Ghulam Mohammad, Farah Riaz of women’s tennis, Aijaz Ahmed of Sindh Shootingball Association, Mohammad Rafiq of Sindh Judo Association, SOA’s vice chairman Asif Azeem, NBP sports represntative Azmatullah Khan, Kaleem Awan of Sindh Cycling Association, Yoga association’s Khalid Brohi and other officials.
