KHAR: The authorities on Monday foiled a terrorism bid by defusing a remote-controlled bomb planted near the house of a tribal elder in Lowi Mamond tehsil of Bajaur tribal district, police said.

District police officer Pir Shahab Ali Shah told mediapersons that a homemade improvised explosive device planed by unknown miscreants near the main gate of the house of Waheed Gul was defused in Dag area.

He said soon after receiving information about the device from the locals, a joint team of the security forces and police’s bomb disposal squad was immediately dispatched to the locality, located some 25km off Khar, the district headquarters. He said the team recovered the bomb and defused it successfully.

He said the bomb could have caused causalities if it was not defused on time.

The DPO said the police had launched a probe into the matter.
