OKARA, Aug 19: A prize bond dealer was killed and his father and a passerby injured by dacoits at Venus Chowk here on Friday. Reports said Javaid along with his father, Abdul Majid, was present at his shop when three armed men came there on a motorcycle and tried to snatch a bag containing cash and prize bonds. On resistance, the dacoits opened fire injuring both Javaid and his father.

Javaid died on the spot while his father was taken to the DHQ Hospital from where he was shifted to Lahore because of his critical condition.

The dacoits fled on their motorcycle, but it developed a fault just 200 metres away on Deepalpur Road. They snatched a two-wheeler from a passerby, Afzaal, after injuring him and escaped on it.

The injured was taken to the DHQ Hospital.

Later, the bike was found abandoned near the DHQ Hospital which was taken into possession by police.

During investigation, the A-division police found that the registration book was in the name of one Omar Draz of Chak 685-GB, Kamalia tehsil, Toba Tek Singh district.

The amount looted by the dacoits has not so far been confirmed.
