Woman dies as bus hits tree

SUKKUR Aug 19: A woman was killed when a passenger bus rammed into a tree on the National Highway near Rohri on Friday. The passenger bus (AB-0370) was on its way from Karachi to upcountry from Karachi.

When it reached near Al-Khadim Petrol Pump on the National Highway near Rohri bypass, it collided head on with a tree due to failure of breaks. As a result Mst. Kausar 30, w/o Yaseen Malik, resident of Rahimyar Khan, was injured. She died while being removed to the Taluka Hospital, Rohri, by the Motorway Police. Three other passengers sustained minor injuries.

According to motorway police, the accident occurred due to negligence of the driver who was sleeping while driving the vehicle. After the accident, the driver fled from the scene. Police have seized the bus.

KILLED: An agriculture officer of Kandiaro died when unknown person threw a heavy piece of rock on his car while he was going from Kandiaro to Nawabshah late on Thursday night. According to reports, Nazir Ahmed Abbasi, Agriculture Officer, was on his way in a car from Kandiaro to Nawabshah. An unknown person threw a big piece of rock on his car hitting his head directly. As a result, he was seriously injured and succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to Hyderabad for treatment.

INJURED: Eight students of Ghulam Mohammad Khan Mahar Medical College, Sukkur, were injured as a result of an armed clash between two groups on Friday.

The clash took place over the debate on a lecture in the classroom. But sources said the clash took place when one group invited tableeghees for a lecture. Both the groups used sticks, pieces As a result of the clash, Sajjad, Waqar Solangi, Mohammad Ali Shahani, Imran, Imam Din, Ahmed Ali, Zamanat Ali and Irfan got injuries.
