HYDERABAD: Mian Taj Mohammad Keerio was elected as president and K. B. Leghari general secretary of the Hyderabad District Bar Association (HDBA) in the election which was held here on Saturday.

Mohsin Raza Gopang, Mohammad Azamat­ulalh Channa, Mohammad Aamir Qureshi and Saifullah Dashti were elected as the vice president, joint secretary, library secretary and treasurer, respectively.

HDBA members also elected Mohammad Ali Kolachi, Seema Khoso, Mohammad Anwar Sangi, Abdul Hafeez Daudani, Mehran Khan, Sajid Mir Masood Khoso and Javed Ali Buriro as members of the association’s managing committee.

Mr Keerio defeated his rival Farhad Abro by polling 564 votes and Mr Leghari humbled Shahzaib Abbasi by bagging 427 votes.

The election for the Hyderabad chapter of the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) is scheduled for March 8.
