SWABI: Two youngsters were killed in separate road accidents here on Saturday, police said.

Jehangir Khan, a resident of Aurangabad village, was seriously injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a rickshaw in Sandwa area of Gadoon. He was taken to Bacha Khan Medical Complex, Shahmansoor, where he succumbed to injuries. The victim was on way to a scenic site along with friends.

Naveed Khan, a resident of Botaka area of Topi city, was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car in Kabgani village, also in Gadoon area. His two cousins, who were travelling with him, were injured in the accident. The injured were taken to tehsil headquarters hospital, Topi. Police said Naveed died while being shifted to Bacha Khan Hospital.

An FIR was registered against the car driver.

Meanwhile, Siraj Mohammad Yousafzai, general secretary of Tehsil Razaar Press Club, alleged that a police party raided his house, took him to the Kalu Khan police station, and kept him incarcerated for four hours.

“I am a peaceful person and have neither indulged in any wrongdoing nor have any relations with criminals,” he said.

He said there was no policewoman accompanying the raiding party and the police flagrantly violated the sanctity of Pakhtun culture. He demanded that action should be taken against the policemen for insulting him and his family.

However, the police said they had information a proclaimed offender was staying at Mr Yousafzai’s house, but he was not present there at time of the raid.

Meanwhile, SP Imran Shahid assured journalists that an impartial inquiry would be conducted into the incident.
