Published August 20, 2005

KARACHI, Aug 19: Members of Hindu community in the city like elsewhere around the globe celebrated their annual festival of threads, Rakhsha Bandhan, on Friday. Rakhsha means protection and Bandhan means tie or bond. The festival is celebrated to mark the love between sisters and brothers. Sisters tie a Rakhi, a bracelet made of threads, on the arm of her brother and the brother in turn promises to protect her life and honour. Married women visit the homes of their brothers during the day to tie the Rakhi and carry out the ritual.
