LAHORE: Reading too much into reports of differences among the ruling coalition, the Jamaat-e-Islami expects the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government is on its way out.

Party emir Sirajul Haq says the abrupt emergence of differences with its allies is an indicator that the PTI government is going to be packed soon.

Speaking at a seminar at Mansoora here on Thursday, he said on one hand the government allies were saying the PTI failed to fulfill the commitments it made with them, while on the other a tug of war continued between the Centre and provinces over power sharing.

He said the government, instead of resolving the masses problems, was persistently displaying a non-serious attitude and creating one crisis after another. The masses were the ultimate victims of the entire political drama, he regretted.

Mr Haq criticised the prime minister for not even fulfilling his main commitment of a ruthless and across the board accountability. He said the government never questioned in the past 16 months the 436 powerful people named in the Panama Leaks.

Similarly, he added, the accountability watchdog had yet to start inquiry into “150 mega corruption scandals” despite possessing all record of the cases.

The JI chief alleged that the government was not only formulating flawed domestic policies but also failing on the diplomatic front. Instead of fighting the case of Kashmir, he regretted, the PTI regime started a war with its own people.
