I AM a resident of Bahria Town, Lahore. The ministry of water and power recently announced a special relief whereby all electricity users of the country are to be charged a concessional rate of Rs11.97 on the additional units of electricity consumed from November to February.
However, as I received my November electricity bill, the additional units consumed were also charged at the same old rates – Rs14.38 off-peak and Rs20.70 peak hour. I approached Bahria Town, Lahore, office which is manned by officials with ‘right’ connections.
There I got the same old arrogant response that, since Bahria Town, Lahore, was buying electricity in bulk, this relief was not meant for the Bahria Town residents. This is not the first time that Bahria Town, Lahore, is flouting government orders. This is meant to fleece residents.
I wonder if the ministry of water and power has the spine to take on these influential people.
