HARIPUR: The police on Wednesday arrested a man on the charges of trespass and a woman’s rape here.

The Kotnajibullah police quoted a woman from Mohallah Muqadaman Kotnajibullah village as complaining that she had been living alone in her parents’ house since her marriage ended in divorce.

She said she was alone at home on Tuesday evening when a resident of Sector No 1, Kangra Colony, barged in, dragged her to a room and raped her at gunpoint.

The complainant said the trespasser issued death threats to her over the reporting of her ordeal, and fled.

The police registered a criminal case against the accused under sections 376, 452 and 506 of the PPC.

The police and hospital sources claimed that the preliminary medical examination of the woman confirmed the sexual assault. They said the samples collected from the girl’s body were sent to the forensic laboratory in Peshawar.

Meanwhile, the police arrested the accused and was produced before the judicial magistrate, who granted them his two days physical remand.

KILLED: A gunman killed a man near Babu Chowk in Khalabat Township here on Wednesday morning.

The police said Sajid Khan of Beer village was attacked with a 30-bore pistol as he was on the way to the Khalabat Township to see relatives.

They said Sajid Khan succumbed to critical injuries caused by six bullets as he was on the way to the hospital. The police said the deceased had an old family dispute with the family but the latter didn’t nominate anyone in FIR.

ACCIDENT: A man was killed when a speeding tri-wheeler hit him while crossing the GT Road near Jhari Kass here on Wednesday.

The police said Moheen, a 32-year-old resident of Jhari Kass, was run over and killed by a speeding rickshaw near Jhari Kass.
