GWADAR: The first liquefied petroleum gas terminal in Gwadar was inaugurated on Tuesday as a ship carrying 3,900 metric tons of LPG reached here from Muscat, Oman.

The LPG terminal was inaugurated by Chinese Consul General in Karachi Li Bijian in the presence of Gwadar Development Authority Chairman Naseer Kashani, Chairman of China Port and Holding Company Bao Xing and CEO of Al-Qasim LPG Gas Terminal Qasim Bashir.

The first ship carrying LPG from the Port Sohar of Muscat reached Gwadar Port, which heralded a new beginning of economic and trade activities in the city.

“Today a new era of economic development has commenced in Balochistan’s port city of Gwadar as international LPG trade has started here,” Consul General Li said while addressing the inauguration ceremony.

Deputy Commissioner of Gwadar retired Capt Mohammad Waseem, the GDA chairman and the CEO of Al-Qasim LPG Terminal lauded the initiative, saying Gwadar was going to turn into an international economic hub in near future.

“A new international airport is being established in Gwadar and power plant projects will speed up development in the port city,” Mr Waseem said.
