Sepco: fake bills

Published December 18, 2019

THIS is apropos the letter ‘Hesco: fake bills’ (Nov 29). The situation is worse in Sepco, Sukkur. When I was permanently shifting to Hyderabad in 2008, I got removed the meter and the entire electricity connection by submitting an application to the XEN Dadu, but since then I have been receiving a monthly bill against a ‘ghost meter’ with reference number 17383130106670 in my name, thanks to Sepco. The amount I have to pay has reached over Rs400,000.

Despite my many visits to Sepco Dadu and applications to the higher authorities, nobody is ready for an inquiry into the matter to know how come I received a bill of such a huge amount and how over Rs20,000 monthly average bill is charged against a domestic ‘ghost connection’.

My third complaint on the Citizen’s Portal (SD281119- 5749928) is waiting for a miracle as the previously lodged two complaints were closed by CEO Sepco without going through my plea of an inquiry.

It is clear that Sepco is highly mismanaged and no one seems to be serious in providing relief to a complainant. The authorities concerned should take notice of Sepco’s apathy and provide justice.
