LAHORE, Aug 13: A card featuring six cup races highlights the special Lahore Summer Meeting being held to mark the celebrations of the Independence Day on Sunday.

The main event, the Azadi Cup to be gone over 1400 has only six runners, if there are no last-minute withdrawals.

Of them Penny Pie and Ballinda are well suited over the middle distance to fight it out. This will be a class I & II combined handicap race and the sixth in racing order.

The fifth and supporting event, the Azadi Cup to be run over 1200m has 14-strong field. This is a class IV division I handicap race.

If one follows form and handicap, past performance and track-work four of them come into reckoning. They are: Who Dares, Poly Next and her stablemate Night Beauty and My Own Job. They should fight it out.

Ten-year-old gelding, Millennium Count, who has been beaten twice in his previous outings, should make amends this time and win the race, a class IV division II handicap race to be contested over 1200m, Azadi Cup.

Miss Photogenic should make it two in-a-row winning the Azadi Cup to be gone over 1200m. She should be followed by Green Street and Trump Coup.

Jia Jee, Love Moon and Green hill are the form entries in the Bahria Town Azadi Cup to be contested by eleven runners. The three should fight it out.

In the Independence Day Cup, Royal Performance, Run And Win and Cross Ruff and Storm Warning are the pick of the eleven runners.

A card of seven events, six over 1200 metres and one over 1400m will be seen through on the Independence Day. The race club has invited top men from all walks of life to attend the programme.
