ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s wild card entrant Noor Zaman outclassed Egypt’s Ahmed Hosny on the opening day of Serena Hotels-Huawei Pakistan International Squash Tourna­ment here at the Mushaf Squash Complex on Sunday.

Zaman, who according to Professional Squash Association (PSA) is not among the top 500 players of the world, defeated world number 114 Hosny 11-9, 5-11, 11-5, 11-4 in a match that lasted 30 minutes

Pakistan’s Amaad Fareed and Zeeshan Zeb also registered victories while other top local players got byes in the first round. Amaad beat Malaysia’s Darren Rahul Pragasam 11-2, 8-11, 11-1, 11-8 (while Farhan Zaman beat fellow local Zeb 11-5, 12-10, 11-9.

Chi Him Wong of Hong Kong downed Pakistan’s Israr Ahmad 9-11, 11-1, 11-8 and 11-6 in 32 minutes.
