MIANWALI: A team of district police on Friday seized illegal weapons from a car at Fakharabad check post at Mianwali’s entry point.

District Police Officer Hassan Asad Alvi said at a press conference at his office that officials got information about the possibility of smuggling of illegal weapons to the district and they set up pickets at the entry points.

A police team headed by Musakhel circle DSP, along with Chakrala SHO Inspector Muhammad Iqbal, stopped a car (LRY-0009) on suspicion and found driver Abdul Malik Jan Kakar who hails from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa carrying a pistol.

The police team searched the vehicle and recovered from the hidden cavities four pistols and magazines, he said, adding that the Chakrala police registered a case.

The DPO said that during 2019 police registered 1,559 cases and recovered from suspects 64 Kalashnikoves, 277 rifles, 360 guns, 1,046 pistols and cartridges in 2019.
