KARACHI: Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, while speaking at the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) Women Empowerment Award 2019, said the OICCI member companies were a role model for empowering women at the workplace and corporate sector across the county.
Speaking at an event held on Tuesday, the governor said that women constitute a large ratio of the population and in the past few years, women have been getting higher education and subsequently employment in the business sector.
Similarly, Imran Ismail said women are also the main consumers in a number of niche businesses therefore it was imperative to give women equal employment opportunity and congenial working environment for the economy to grow.
The governor lauded OICCI’s efforts and said the member companies provide great platform for women empowerment and acknowledgement of women their services.
OICCI President Shazia Syed said the OICCI has been advocating for women empowerment for past two years.
