KATHMANDU: Talented Pakistani judoka Shah Hussain Shah did Pakistan proud here on Monday night after he won the gold medal in the tough-100kg category to help his country complete century of medals at the ongoing South Asian Games.

Shah Hussain, son of famous Pakistani Olympic bronze medallist boxer Hussain Shah, was brilliant on the day, winning all his three league rounds against opponents from India, hosts Nepal and Sri Lanka to clinch the gold medal in style.

Meanwhile, country’s top wrestler Inam Butt added another feather to his cap when he downed Nepal’s Sumit Kumar to win 92kg wrestling gold medal.

Inam was once down on points in the first round but he made a comeback in the second round and used his traditional “double leg” technique to down his opponent to win the final bout.

Pakistani athletes also bagged gold medals in squash and weightlifting and a silver medal in women’s swimming as well as two bronze in boxing and men’s swimming, respectively.

Pakistan Olympic Association president retired Gen Arif Hasan congratulated the entire Pakistan contingent for their tremendous performance in the mega event.
