Apropos a news item “Pakistan-Iran forces jointly conduct border patrolling” published in Dawn on Dec 9, the director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday said that the story is “factually incorrect”.

In a tweet posted through @OfficialDGISPR, he said, “there is no joint patrolling anywhere on Pakistani Borders. Patrolling/ operations if required are always on respective sides by respective forces through coordination.”

The confusion was caused by the official news agency APP, as the picture caption said ‘joint patrolling’. Radio Pakistan had also tweeted the same.

Meanwhile, state-run APP news agency on Monday also ran the clarification issued by the director general of ISPR.

On Sunday, APP ran a photo with its caption reading Pakistani and Iranian officials holding discussions after security forces of the two countries conducted joint patrolling of the border near Taftan.

On Monday, APP re-ran the same photo with the caption reading officials discussing matters after patrolling on their respective sides at the Pakistan-Iran border.
