ISLAMABAD, Aug 12: Zeenat Parveen of Wapda set a new national record in the shot put event on Friday, the second day of trials at the Jinnah Stadium to select Pakistan teams for Asian athletics championship and the Islamic Women’s Games.

With a throw of 14.57 metres Zeenat improved upon her own mark of 13.76 metres she had created in Quetta last year.

The Asian event in Incheon (S. Korea) and the Islamic Games in Tehran, are due to take place next month.

RESULTS:

SHOT PUT: Zeenat Parveen 14.57 (NR), Fouzia Khatoon 11.51, Nazia Kausar 10.55

200m: Madhia Latif 25.3, Sadaf Siddiqui 26.2

JAVELIN THROW: Parveen Akhtar 39.65, Maria Khan 37.33

400m: Bushra Parveen 56.95, Nadia Nazir 58.74, Rozina Shafqat 58.91 LONG JUMP: Rozina Shafqat 4.82

3000m: Sadia Parveen 13:10.0
