ISLAMABAD: The capital police arrested 18 people during its crackdown on criminal elements and recovered narcotics and weapons from them.

According to an official statement, Industrial Area police arrested two suspects and recovered three bottles of wine and 120 gram hashish from their possession.

Shams Colony police detained two persons involved in cylinder refilling while Khanna police arrested Shahid Khan and recovered one kg hashish from him.

Two suspects were arrested by Sihala police after recovery of two 30-bore pistols along with ammunition from the police also arrested a man allegedly involved in a theft case.

The Secretariat police arrested two bootleggers and recovered 60 litres of wine and 10 tins of beer from their possession while Bhara Kahu police apprehended a drug pusher and recovered 135 gram hashish from him.

Banigala police arrested two persons and recovered six wine bottles from their possession while Margalla police arrested three drug peddlers and recovered four wine bottles, 310 gram hashish and one 30-bore pistol from them.

The Tarnol police arrested an Afghan national living in the area without documents.

Cases have been registered against these suspects and further investigation is underway.

During a special checking, the capital police also detained 67 professional beggars, five proclaimed offenders and impounded 120 bikes which had no documents.
